About

Fran is a 29 year young girl. She has already ticked off everything on her “things to do before I’m thirty” list. Now she needs a new list. To start, she wants to become a world-famous writer. Oh, and Fran never stops dreaming. Nor does she take no for an answer!

Fran has been successful at nearly all her endeavours, so far. She has a First Class Undergraduate Degree, a Master’s Degree and an Honorary Doctorate. She’s very tempted to do a PhD but she’s enjoying the more creative side of writing at the moment.

Fran adores writing and reading, which will hopefully be reflected here. She also likes music, theatre and sending/receiving letters.

Please do say hello!

      • FYI: In a very beautiful children’s book now no longer published, illustrator Garth Williams (Little House on the Prairie, Stuart Little, Charlotte’s Web, etc.) collected poems and stories he illustrated in The Tall Book of Make-Believe. In that is an illustration for I Must Go Down to the Sea Again that you should take a look at. You’ll understand when/if you see it. πŸ™‚

  2. Hi there! I love the mermaid picture you elude to in your blog’s title. It’s wonderful that you have accomplished so much already, and there is the wonderful world of writing that promises endless adventures!

  3. Hi Fran, thanks for following my blog, and an early welcome to the “30” years! How amazing that you’ve completed your “before 30” list. I don’t think I had; I just sort of stumbled along. Now I’m working on my “before 40” list and sometimes feel like I’m trying to cram 20 years of accomplishments into 10. Oh well, who needs sleep. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you for your lovely comment. I don’t think I’m scarily clever – often I think my success is one big fluke as I can be very ditsy at times. You will notice this as you follow my blog πŸ˜‰ Lovely to meet you and I hope the new year is treating you well.

  4. Hello!

I’ve actually been feeling the same way for awhile now. I am 29, and I’ve done everything I said I wanted to do in my twenties. I constantly find myself asking “what now? What new?”

Perhaps we will both find out.

    • Hello, it is nice to meet you. I’m glad I’m not the only one in this boat. Do you have ideas about what you want to do now? I have a few but it is getting started that’s the tricky bit. Good luck with your search for new challenges πŸ™‚

  5. Go Fran. The primary prerequisite of becoming any kind of writer is an obsessive personality. Make sitting down to write every day as necessary to your day as leaving one room to enter another and you’re half way there.

    • Indeed, that’s what I’m trying to do. I stopped writing for many years (for various reasons). Now that I have rediscovered my love for it, I’m not letting go again. Very nice to meet you – thank you for dropping by to say hi πŸ™‚
